Pumpkins are a round, smooth, yellow to orange colored vegetable, that are grown on vines, and are members of squash family, along with cucumber, zucchini and gourd. They usually grow in temperate regions in Australia. While in frost free tropical regions, pumpkins can be grown all year round.
Pumpkins contains nutrients and are high in fiber and low in calories. They can be cooked by baking and boiling and are used to make very popular pumpkin soup.
Whole pumpkins will keep for a fairly long while in a cool dry place but it should be refrigerated once cut.
