In Australia we grow of variety of Plums, and we also have a variety of uses for this wonderful summer fruit. Plums belong to the stone fruit family and are one of the reasons we all love to visit our local green grocer in summer and revel in the wonderful aromas of summer fruit. Plums can be eaten raw, used as a sweet and make wonderful jam.
They are popular not only for their juicy and sweet content but because also for the nutrients such as vitamin C, vitamin K, vitamin A, fiber, and potassium. They also contain antioxidants and a good source of vitamin A that supposedly helps to improve poor eyesight.
When looking for a quality plum at your local green grocer, choose the ones that are smooth, firm and have a waxy surface.
