It’s hard not to get overwhelmed by everything fruity and delicious going on at Fruitologist Rozelle, the second venture of father and son fruiterers Alf and Danny Macri.
The pair opened up shop in Rozelle’s Union Place retail precinct little under 18 months ago, and have since seen business take off.
Like many greengrocers, Danny followed in his father’s footsteps. From the age of 12, every Saturday he would work along side his dad Alf learning all the tricks of the trade.
“Our customers expect a high level of quality and variety to which we simply have to meet – there’s no two ways about it.” Said Danny
The store features an in-house cafe and health food bar, fantastic delicatessen range and exclusive grocery lines. Fruitologist is also one of the pioneers of the viral “acai” trend, which attract customers from all over Sydney looking to try their acclaimed acai bowls.
Talking about his store and what it has to offer, Danny’s true passion comes out when talking about what he describes as the “bread and butter” of Fruitologist Rozelle: their top-notch fruit and veg.
“We really like to encourage our customers to come into our store to experience our produce first-hand and ask questions to get a real sense of what they’re getting. [My father] Alf’s been in the greengrocer game for 46 years so it’s safe to say he’s taught me a thing or two on how to pick out quality produce.”
